ABOUT US

The Church of Pentecost UK –Nottingham is a local branch of The Church of Pentecost- UK based base in Nottingham. The Church of Petecost itself is worldwide Church with headquarters in Ghana. For more information about the Church of Pentecost Wordwide, please click here.

The aim of the Church is to provide leadership and to bring the world to the love and the saving power of our Lord Jesus Christ. It also empowers members to be spiritually, emotionally and physically matured and to have a deeper meaning to life here on earth and the life after death.

One emphasis of the Church of Pentecost is bringing the believer to a level where he or she establishes a personal relation with God and also to know, God can use all those who believe in Christ to achieve great things in the Kingdom through power of the Holy Spirit. As members travel over the world for education and works, they become the centre of new assemblies springing up and subsequently forming districts and Areas. Assemblies are normally started in homes or places where two or three believers can meet Matth 18:20 .

History of The Church of Pentecost -Nottingham

The Church of Pentecost Nottingham started in September 2003 under the leadership of Pastor Michael Teiduku who was the District Pastor for Birmingham and Apostle Amegatser who was the National Head of UK.

The Church was started by four brethren and a baby, namely brother Partrick Opong, Brother Emmanuel Mbrokoh, Bro Isaac Mensah, Sister Comfort Mensah and baby Mateko Mensah. On the local front, Brother Partrick Opong was the main coordinator supported by bro Isaac Mensah and bro Emmanuel Mbrokoh.

An evening service was started at St Andrews with Castle Gate United Reformed Church, Goldsmith Street, Nottingham NG1 5JT. On the 3rd of October 2003, the Church of Pentecost – Nottingham branch was officially inaugurated by the District Pastor. Taking a text from 1 Corinthians 3: 5-15, the new assembly were admonished to lay good foundation through love, unity and cooperation and we would look back one day to give thanks for what God has done through our hands.

At the time, the Church of Pentecost UK was affiliated with the Elim Church of Pentecost UK and we were normally known as Elicop –Nottingham Assembly.

Through the grace of our Lord Jesus, God brought many helpers to the Church who helped to move the Church forward. Notable members are Auntie Maggie, Mrs Bio, Mr and Mrs Tago, Mrs Grace Mensah, Mr and Mrs Attakrah, and Mr & Mrs Agustine Osei.

Our first Presiding Elder was Bright Awuah who was a student living in Stoke-on-Trent but had to travel all the way to Nottingham. Subsewquent presiding leaders and elders who moved the Church forward include; Deacon Chris Tago, Elder George Agyemang and Elder Charles Attakorah.

Up to 2009, English and Twi (i.e. a local Ghanaian language) were used in Service. On 7th June 2009, it became necessary to start a second service purely in English to reflect the local language of Nottingham. This led to the starting of the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC) in Nottingham along side the main Church which is now known as Nottingham Central.

In September 2009, the Leicester District was formed under the leadership of Apostle MS Appiah. This comprises all the churches in East Midlands as indicated here. Thus all the churches which used to be under the Birmingham district in the East Midlands now have a pastoral seat in Leicester. The Leicester district was blessed with Rev. Abraham Arthur as the first district pastor.

By the grace of God, the Church is moving forward with much emphasis on evangelism, holiness and baptism of the Holy Spirit. It is amazing what God is doing here in Nottingham and across the Leicester District using brothers and sisters full of the Holy Spirit to make known His Kingdom.
